Performing Arts Theater is a part of life at Marymount. From the earliest grades, students are exposed to the dramatic arts on a regular basis, whether through trips to local theaters or through regular school assemblies featuring professional actors, singers, and dancers.
Deanne Anders, Marymount's instructor of dramatic arts and an accomplished actor/director in her own right, produces three student-based shows each year - one musical and two dramatic plays. In addition, Marymount students regularly attend and receive awards at dramatic conferences and competitions, such as the Southern California Shakespeare Competition.
Studio Arts
All Marymount primary and elementary students take regular studio art classes, exploring various studio media. Middle School students are encouraged to take at least one studio art offering from a wide list of electives. For more information, please contact Marymount's Director of Admission, Anne Ludlow, for a copy of the school's curriculum guide.
Computer Science Marymount students are expected to graduate with keyboard and basic computer skills. Primary and elementary students attend regular classes in the computer lab. Fall and spring electives offer opportunity for new Middle School students to brush up on basic skills and learn more advanced techniques.
General Electives Marymount Middle School students have the opportunity to enhance their rigorous secondary-prep curriculum with a variety of elective courses. Electives cover a variety of academic, cultural, and practical subjects, and are designed to be both educational and enjoyable. Each Middle School student is encouraged to take at least one semester each of elective art and student leadership classes. For more information about elective courses at Marymount Middle School, please contact Administrative Aide Terra Shirvanian.
Daycare Daycare
Marymount's daycare program, under the leadership of Ashley Brakesman, offers our children a safe, supervised, and stimulating environment every weekday afternoon from dismissal until 5:00pm. Children have active play on the playground as weather and daylight permit. During rainy weather and during winter after 4pm, they are taken to the Lower School Art Room for choices such as puzzles, art projects, Legos, and reading. A healthy snack is served daily at 4pm. The Library is open 3:15-4:30pm daily for students to complete homework assignments or delve into their favorite stories. Marymount standards of conduct and discipline apply during all daycare activities.
Daycare is billed monthly at $6.75 per child per hour, beginning at 3:45pm. Families arriving after 5:00pm will be charged an additional $6.75 for each fifteen minutes a caregiver must stay.

Sports and Physical Education
The Marymount sports and p.e. program, administered by Athletic Director Gary Messineo, is dedicated to the pursuit of individual and team goals by encouraging students to realize their highest potential as athletes and sportsmen-and-women. The program emphasizes skill development, a healthy attitude toward team competition, and good sportsmanship. By providing opportunities for students to work in team situations, the program strives to foster an understanding of the dynamics of team effort and fair play. Marymount Athletics also creates opportunities for students to be introduced to a healthy and physical way of life. Information about After School Sports appears regularly in the weekly Messenger. For more information, please contact Mr. Messineo by email or at extension 103.
